A Biblical Strategy

Using the outdoor experience to help people grow.

Growth is the process of moving toward maturity. Romans 8:29 says, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness (or image) of his Son…”  Lifelines sees all growth as spiritual growth because growth is all about being conformed to the likeness of Christ. If one is not becoming more like Christ in a certain area of his or her life then he or she is not growing in that area.

The Bible answers and speaks into our everyday problems. It talks about our relational, emotional, physical, and even financial struggles; it covers all of life. Yet most non-Christians think the Bible and God do not relate to their lives. So if Lifelines can help people grow in aspects of their lives by building healthier relationships, for example, then we can meet felt needs as well as earn credibility for both us and the gospel. As we reveal biblical truths that speak into participants’ experiences, many begin to think, “There must be something to this.” Indeed, there is!

Author Paul Tripp writes, “The Great Commission is not only a call to bring people into the kingdom of light, but also a call to teach them to live as children of light once they are there.”
God’s ordinance in Matthew 28 is that we teach others to live as children of light.  In verse 20 Jesus says, “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  This is one of the strengths of Lifelines.  We can create experiences and give tools that really help people live as children of light.  It is our privilege to help people move toward Christ, offering hope for their everyday challenges as well as for their eternal future.
