The wilderness holds a special place in scripture. It is a place to experience God. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pour out speech and night to night reveals knowledge. The heavens declare the glory of God.” Psalm 19:1,2 Yosemite is a holy place. God’s cathedral made by his own hands. I don’t know how someone can stand in the valley and not worship the great “I AM”. The wilderness is a place of worship. I have been blessed to be able to take college students into the wilderness along with my wife, Heather, since 1997. We use process learning and experiences to help students grow in relationship with God and each other. We have found that getting students off campus and into the wilderness opens there hearts and minds to God. It allows them to be still and know there is a God. As spiritual guides we have the joy of helping students grow spiritually and sharing the good news of how Jesus Christ the “morning star” and creator wants a personal relationship with them.
